    Hanoi

Welcome to Hanoi, arguably Asia's most elegant, ethereal, and fascinating capital city. Arrival transfer from the airport to the hotel. The rest of the day is free to stroll among the expansive avenues lined with trees, picturesque lakes, historic pagodas, and the bustling old city, all of which are easily accessible on foot. If you can arrive very early today or tomorrow, consider joining us on our optional Back Streets of Hanoi add-on, which explores the charming neighbourhoods of Cho Buoi, Hoang Hoa Tham, and Vinh Phuc and includes an exhilarating local experience: riding pillion on taxi-motorbikes through a maze of tiny streets and along the shore of lovely Ho Tay Lake.

  • Day 2

    Halong Bay

Hanoi After breakfast this morning, we depart Hanoi and go to the breathtakingly spectacular Halong Bay, the jewel in Vietnam's scenic crown. On a typical wooden junk boat, we explore the jade waters dotted with karst islands. After setting sail, there is time for lunch while taking in the scenery. This afternoon, we go to Trinh Nu Cave, one of Halong Bay's best caves. It is 2,000 square metres and features numerous stalactites and stalagmites. Additionally, you can go kayaking and take a cool swim. Watch a Vietnamese cooking demonstration on the sundeck later this evening when you're back on board, then tuck into a superb seafood meal.

  • Day 3

    Hanoi Cyclo Ride

Hanoi, Halong Bay, and Hue. The ideal way to start the day is with a soothing Tai Chi session on the sundeck or a traditional massage for early risers. This morning, before returning to the dock, we tour the stunning Sung Sot cave (Surprise Grotto), which is 10,000m2 in size and has two main chambers that are breathtaking and roomy enough to accommodate thousands of people. After returning to Hanoi in the middle of the afternoon, we take cyclo (rickshaws) through the maze of alleys in the French Quarter, visiting attractions like the Opera House and Ly Thai To Park. Then, instead of using our wheels, we stroll through the "36 streets of the old district," each of which was previously home to a different guild, ranging from traditional medicine stores to silk tailors. Before boarding the "Reunification Express" train (4-berth sleeper cabin, basic standard) on the railway line to Hue later this evening, there will be an opportunity to freshen up. Flying from Hanoi to Hue is an option

  • Day 4

    Imperial Hue

After arriving in Hue, we went on a guided sightseeing trip to the former capital of the Nguyen empire in the 19th century. We walk to the Thien Mu Pagoda, which houses the city's oldest monastery and whose 21-meter-tall tower has come to represent Hue and the citadel. The Royal Purple Palace, located inside the citadel, is a replica of Beijing's Forbidden City, complete with its majestic ramparts, ceremonial moats, and imperial palaces, some of which were in ruins. The ornate mausoleum of Emperor Tu Duc is located at the Royal Tombs of the Nguyen Kings, which are located in the countryside. An extra trip down the serene Perfume River, wonderfully lit at night, is available as the sun sets.

  • Day 5

    Hoi An

Hoi An, Hue, and the Road of the Ocean Clouds. Today, we travel over the picturesque Hai Van Pass (Road of the Ocean Clouds), which provides breathtaking views of lush hills and beaches. On the way, we pause to take a stroll along My Khe beach, a stunning length of shoreline that the Americans during the war dubbed "China Beach" and was notably shown in Francis Ford Coppola's film "Apocalypse Now." Before heading south along the coast to Hoi An, perhaps take a cooling dip in the water.

  • Day 6

    Tra Cue Village

  • Day 8

    Cruising the Mekong

Ho Chi Minh City - Hoi An. Ho Chi Minh City is flying early in the morning. The Mekong Delta is then reached by car. The rich Mekong Delta, sometimes known as the "rice bowl" of Vietnam, is renowned for its plentiful harvests of tropical fruits, flowers, and rice, as well as its breathtaking views while boating through the canals. Leaving Cai Be on our sampan, we travel through the labyrinth of waterways while observing the bustle of daily life on the river.

  • Day 9

    Ho Chi Minh

Ho Chi Minh City is between Can Tho. We went to the constantly bustling Cai Rang floating market this morning. Before returning to Ho Chi Minh City, observe as bags of rice, children's toys, fresh greens, melons, and pineapples are hurled from one sampan to another at amazing heights and speed. Modern Ho Chi Minh City, once known as the Pearl of the Orient, is a dynamic metropolis on the move. Between historic buildings from the colonial era, bustling street markets, and ancient pagodas are fancy skyscrapers, fine dining establishments, trendy stores, and posh pubs and spas. Visits to the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Old Post Office, and the sad War Remnants Museum are part of our walking tour of Ho Chi Minh City. The evening is free time.
